Sally By The Seashore

Responsibility, Courage, Compassion

Some acts of kindness are loud and easy to see. Others are quiet, careful, and almost invisible.

Lily and the Wildlife Rescue is a story about learning the difference.

When Lily begins volunteering at Turtle Points Wildlife Rescue Center, she thinks helping animals might mean holding them close, comforting them with gentle words, and rushing in whenever something needs saving. But the rescue center teaches her something deeper. Real wildlife rescue takes patience, safety, listening, and respect. Sometimes helping means folding towels, writing careful notes, standing behind a line, keeping a hallway quiet, or letting trained adults do the work. Sometimes the kindest thing a person can do is step back.

Lily and the Wildlife Rescue

follows Lily as she begins volunteering at Turtle Points Wildlife Rescue Center, where she learns that helping wild animals takes patience, safety, kindness, and care. With Grandpa Jim and Ms. Harper by her side, Lily helps care for Button the turtle, baby birds, a bright-eyed raccoon, a quiet owl, and other animals in need. Along the way, she discovers that real rescue is not about keeping animals close but helping them heal and return home. This heartwarming story teaches young readers that small acts of kindness still count and that even the quietest helpers can make a big difference.

Suitable for readers aged 4-10 and for family read-aloud sessions. Ideal for SEL, guidance, and service-learning.

As Lily meets Button the turtle, a basket of baby birds, a bright-eyed raccoon, a quiet owl, and other animals in need, she begins to understand that wild creatures are not ours to keep. They have their own lives, their own instincts, and their own place in the world. The goal of rescue is not to make animals belong to us, but to help them become strong enough to return home.
