Friendship, Imagination, and Kindness
For Thomas, that place is a treehouse tucked inside the branches of an old backyard oak tree. At first, it seems like the perfect place to play. But with his best friend Leo by his side, Thomas soon discovers that a treehouse can become almost anything—a pirate ship sailing across a sea of grass, a rocket ship blasting toward the moon, a jungle lookout tower, a castle in the clouds, and a cozy campout under the evening sky.
The Adventure Club begins
Smallest acts of courage.
The treehouse did not stop being magical after the Adventure Club began.
In fact, it seemed to grow more magical with every visit.
Some days, it was a pirate ship again, sailing bravely across the grass. Other days, it became a rocket ship, a jungle tower, a castle, a museum, or a quiet reading nook tucked inside the leaves. Thomas never knew exactly what it would become until he climbed the ladder, stepped onto the wooden floor, and let his imagination take the first step.
But now, something was different.
Before every adventure, Thomas, Leo, and Sophie looked at the rules on the wall.
Be kind.
Share the adventure.
Stay safe.
Use your imagination.
Help when you can.
They did not read them because they had to. They read them because the rules reminded them what made the treehouse special. It was not the wood or the roof or the rope bucket. It was not the pirate flag, the moon rocks, the blankets, or even the secret feeling of being up high among the branches.
It was the way everyone belonged.
Leo still brought the pirate emergency rock, just in case. Sophie brought Mr. Bunbun to nearly every meeting. Tia the cat remained an honorary member, though she never once attended a full meeting and often walked away during important announcements. Thomas kept the notebook on the shelf, ready for new maps, new discoveries, new club rules, and new lessons.
One evening, Thomas climbed into the treehouse just as the sun was beginning to set. Leo was beside him, and Sophie was sitting near the window with Mr. Bunbun in her lap. The sky was painted gold and pink, and the old oak tree swayed gently around them.
